Introduction
We developed this bible reading plan in an attempt to improve on the various plans weve used over the years. We wanted to read the entire bible in a year...but we also wanted to read certain areas of Gods Word more than once a year. We wanted more variety in our daily reading than one Old Testament passage and one New Testament passage a day.
If you faithfully follow the Victorious Faith Bible Reading Plan...in the course of one year, you will read the entire Old Testament once and Psalms, Proverbs, and the entire New Testament twice.
Each day you will read a passage from five general categories of scripture;
1. History & Law
(Gen, Ex, Lev, Nu, Dt, Jos, Jdg, Ru, 1 Sa, 2 Sa, 1 Ki, 2 Ki,
1 Ch, 2 Ch, Ezr, Ne, Est)
2. Prophets
(Isa, Jer, Lam, Eze, Da, Hos, Joel, Am, Ob, Jnh, Mic,
Na, Hab, Zep, Hag, Zec, Mal)
3. Poetry & Wisdom
(Ps, Pr, Job, Ecc, SS)
4. Gospels & Acts
(Mt, Mk, Lk, Jn, Ac)
5. Epistles
(Ro, 1 Co, 2 Co, Gal, Eph, Php, Col, 1 Th, 2 Th, 1 Ti, 2 Ti, Tit,
Phm, Heb, Jas, 1 Pe, 2 Pe, 1 Jn, 2 Jn, 3 Jn, Jude, Rev)
You will notice the daily readings do not always follow chapter breaks. When developing this Bible reading plan we focused on the length of reading (trying to place breaks at fairly logical points) rather than chapter breaks. After all, the books of the Bible weren’t written by their authors with chapter and verse designations. Those were added much later as a tool to facilitate ease in finding particular passages.
It will take the average reader about 20 minutes a day to follow this plan. Begin on any day of the year you would like. If you miss a few days, dont spend a lot of time trying to catch up - you will likely end up discouraged. Instead, begin again on the current day.
